All the colours of the rainbow

I'm not exactly fashionable - with a figure like mine (all hips and thighs) it's just not feasible! So I'm never really taken in by catwalk fashions, magazine spreads or designer fashion.
But there is one designer who captured my heart so completely, so even if I was interested in any of the above, there simply isn't any of my heart left!
Agatha Ruiz de la Prada isn't a sleek or elegant or sexy - but my god she is so FUN!

Her clothes are so loud and kooky and just plain silly at times (see the egg dress). When you break it down she has a pretty simple design aesthetic - bright colours and simple shapes. But somehow it's carried off with such panache and bravado! I mean how many designers shun black in favour of bright pinks, yellows and oranges all in the one outfit? I think fashion should be fun and should make you smile... Chanel doesn't tend to make me giggle. Beware - picture heavy...!

Over time I've tracked down four pairs of her shoes and these green ones (scuse the awful picture... this was a few years into their life and they look a bit grubby) will most likely hold their place as my favourite pair of shoes ever, despite their departing into shoe heaven. Agatha's goods painfully impossible to find here in Australia and expensive to boot, but I love wearing my heart on my sole. Get it? Oh okay - too cheesey huh?

These shoes were made for dancing

Maybe it's because Angelina Ballerina was my favourite book when I was little, or maybe it's because my attempts to learn even jazz ballet were foiled by my lack of coordination, or maybe it's because now I look at girls who did ballet when they were younger and envy their long limbs and perfect posture... whatever it is, I am officially obsessed with Ballet flats. It could have something to do with the fact that I'm already tall enough for a girl and that when I wear stilletos I walk like a drunk wombat on a rocking boat, but it's not just any flat shoe I love, it is specifically the ballet flat. Bloch does a lovely ballet flat with a twist and in an array of rainbow colours. I just wanted to share their styles that are on my shopping list!

If the shoe fits...

In my heart of hearts I really dislike Perez Hilton and everything he stands for. That somehow hasn't stopped me looking at his site every morning of my working life for the past 3 years. But today something good came of it... I stumbled across these sweet shoes, all while fulfilling my inherent need for trash and gossip.

You can buy them at Moxsie (along with a bunch of other cute stuff).
Perfect for an Autumn walk in the park I think!

The boots are made for walkin'

A while back I made a special set of shoes for a special friend - I grabbed some sharpies and some white canvas shoes and basically went to town while watching the last four episodes of Dexter Season 3 (I love you Miguel Prado!). The shoes were well received and with them came the request for another pair from another friend. So who did I draw in the Secret Santa swap? Said friend! Perfect excuse to get me off my butt and drawing on some shoesies! Suffice to say she loves music - namely tegan+sara - and may, or may not, be named Shannon.
Overall I'm stoked with the results seeing as I free-handed it all!

Check after the jump for more photos and a super dodgy phone pic of the original pair

Fancy Footwork

I think this is such a fantastic idea. You know what it's like when you've had a big night out and no taxis will stop for you and you're limping down the road in your beautiful but excruciatingly painful high heels, or you walk to work and a pair of chunky white running shoes doesn't really go with your outfit? Well Fancy Flats are very pretty little ballet flats that fold up and live in a small wallet that you can carry around in your handbag. So you can pop them on outside the bar or pop them back into your bag when you get to work. And the wallet unfolds into a bag that you can use to carry your high heels... brilliant! You can buy them at www.fancyflats.com.au

Mellow yellow

If I had lovely, slim ankles and a spare $175USD lying around I could safely say I'd be buying these babies.

And although they may seem a bit exxy, it wouldn't be money misspent - these gorgeous foot-dresses (my new word for shoes) are custom and hand-made with leather in the colour of your choice (red, blue, green, gold, black, chocolate brown... and YELLOW!) and darling wooden buttons.

So, should you wish to make me greatly unhappy and buy the shoes I want - do so at Spiro Creations on Etsy! But let me try them on just once so I can live vicariously through you...
