Building blocks to my stomach

I'm firmly of the opinion that the world should be made of Lego - I think we'd all be much happier! For instance, if I had my sandwich in this cute pink lunchbox I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be feeling so glum on this miserable winter day.

All the colours of the rainbow

I'm not exactly fashionable - with a figure like mine (all hips and thighs) it's just not feasible! So I'm never really taken in by catwalk fashions, magazine spreads or designer fashion.
But there is one designer who captured my heart so completely, so even if I was interested in any of the above, there simply isn't any of my heart left!
Agatha Ruiz de la Prada isn't a sleek or elegant or sexy - but my god she is so FUN!

Her clothes are so loud and kooky and just plain silly at times (see the egg dress). When you break it down she has a pretty simple design aesthetic - bright colours and simple shapes. But somehow it's carried off with such panache and bravado! I mean how many designers shun black in favour of bright pinks, yellows and oranges all in the one outfit? I think fashion should be fun and should make you smile... Chanel doesn't tend to make me giggle. Beware - picture heavy...!

Over time I've tracked down four pairs of her shoes and these green ones (scuse the awful picture... this was a few years into their life and they look a bit grubby) will most likely hold their place as my favourite pair of shoes ever, despite their departing into shoe heaven. Agatha's goods painfully impossible to find here in Australia and expensive to boot, but I love wearing my heart on my sole. Get it? Oh okay - too cheesey huh?

A walk-on part of a background shot of a movie I'm not in.

I'm aching to see this movie! I bought tickets to see it at the Bondi Open Air, but for some reason I've long chosen to forget I didn't go - I think I double-booked myself, as I'm prone to doing. It's nothing to do with popularity, but entirely to do with disorganisation (my middle name, as you have it). Have you seen it? It looks really cute and quirky, and let's be honest you can't really lose where Alison Janey is involved.
I'm also kind of excited to see Scott Pilgrim vs The World. It looks so ridiculous and nerdy. I've moved on from my Michael Cera love and am firmly in geek-love with Jason Schwartzman instead (listen to Coconut Records...AHHH-mazing!)

My Paper Heart

You've got to hand it to anyone who can make the most rudimentary items like cardboard, bandaids and earbuds cute - but somehow Phillipa Rice, of My Cardboard Life, manages just that. It's so simple, so sweet and so very silly - and it lights up my day (and makes me giggle like a loon) every single time. I wish I'd thought of it!

Sushi Cake- sounds gross, looks great!

Just spotted this at Coco Cake Cupcakes. Will keep this in mind for my boyfriend Mike's birthday as he loves sushi as much as he loves cake and salmon nigiri is his favourite. Don't worry, it's chocolate flavoured inside, not salmon. Genius! It could be pretty cute if you could make these cupcake sized and made all different varieties of sushi.

Pimp my desk

Being back at work after 2 weeks off is a shock to the system. Not the least because after traipsing around the bright and bustling streets of New York, my desk just seems so dull. Thank you Raw Space for stepping in and showing me that my desk can be a pretty cool place to be. Boring old office supplies are so offensive when you could have a Babushka USB drive, ladybug pushpins, a cassette tape dispenser and (Homer Simpson's favourite) a drinking bird to keep you company!

It's Friday, I'm in love...

Heart plates from Made 590 (it's in Newtown.. not far from Leichhardt funnily enough... Ctrl + H)

Silver TOMS! Looks like these shoes had a party and forgot to invite me.
PS The concept behind TOMS is fantastic. In their own words -
TOMS Shoes was founded on a simple premise: With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for One. Using the purchasing power of individuals to benefit the greater good is what we're all about.

Be still my giant, inflatable heart!
In case you haven't heard my loud squeals of delight... fred flare is now shipping internationally!
So this crazy large infatable heart could be all yours... or mine!

A penny saved is a penny earned... but I don't have any pennies.

I'm hearting my Vinnies finds today after sneaking out of work at a tasty 2 o'clock this afternoon! I'd been eyeing off a sweet thermos in the window of a Kogarah op-shop so when I was out early today I seized the opportunity...of course said shop was closed, but hey... whatdya know? My local Vinnes delivered in spades instead...

A tonne of material (including the cute orange stripe background material and some tacky vinyl), 3 metres of pink lace (50c... I couldn't buy 5 red frogs for that), some wool for my newly found pompom addiction and my cute-to-boot thermos - all for 15 big ones.

My partner in crime has up and left me again! Last time Dubai, this time NYC. One of these days I'm going to stow away in her bag. In the mean time I'm off to play the new Super Mario Bros with Ma + Pa, almost as good I'd say...almost!

With mustard or ketchup?

I don't think I really need to explain why I want this miniature dachshund, do I?

Don't say no to a mo

Just a reminder that Sunday is the first day of Movember so make sure your boyfriend/husband/dad/brother signs up and grows the mo to end all mo's to raise money for the Prostate Cancer Foundation and BeyondBlue. I'm going to make M grow the "connoisseur". And since I might have Mo-envy, then I might have to buy this very cool mustache on a stick from SomethingsHidingHere.

Your Legs Are As Hairy As My Beard

Can you believe ZZ Top actually had a song called "Your Legs Are As Hairy As My Beard"? Actually I can... and I have a feeling Owen might agree with them on that front.

But seriously, beards are very cool. My father has the best beard in all the land. It's thick, with just the right amout of scratch for when you go in for a cuddle.
Some people, no names mentioned, aren't so blessed by way of facial hair. But fear not... I have found a solution! I made you a beard! Well, not me but.. I Made You A Beard did...!Fancy a face full of lustrous, ginger hair? Or are you a more demure, grey-beard? Maybe you're channeling Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat... on your chin!

You can check our I Made You A Beard on etsy or at Mahardry Goods (they have lots of cute bits and bobs for little'uns)

Um.... I er... will finish this post.... later....

I think I speak for 95% of the population when I say we're a giant bunch of procrastinators. The only time you'll see me clean my room is when an essay is due the next day. Safe to say I no longer have essays to do and my room remains filthy... but I still find other ways to procrastinate (this blog for example!) and for that reason I intend to buy this calendar from Modcloth for everyone I know. Provided I actually get around to it...

PETA friendly taxidermy

Hmmm I'm not entirely sure how I feel about these kooky faux-hunting wall-hangings from Made 590. Part of me thinks "CUUUUUTE!" and the other part thinks "that's a touch creepy".

Either way, I love the invovation behind them and know many buck-hunting friends (computerised hunting only, I promise) who might fancy hanging one of these babies on their wall.

Oh and for the bird enthusiasts, or die-hard Harry Potter fans... they've got white owls too!
Check them out at Made 590 -
590 King street Newtown NSW Australia 2042
or online!

What's your flavour?

Just spotted this cute idea on Apartment Therapy. What do you think? Would you like a waffle cone posie? I'm thinking it's also more environmentally friendly than sheets of cellophane.
